GHA was created April 18,1940 to provide housing assistance for low income families
Prior to Hurricane Ike GHA operated 900 public housing units and administered 1,213 Housing Choice Vouchers

GHA currently administers the Disaster Housing Assistance Program (DHAP-IKE)
Galveston Housing Authority Board Members
The Galveston Housing Authority is governed by board of commissioners, appointed by the mayor of Galveston. The board is responsible for establishing policy, and providing leadership and oversight to assist the Housing Authority advance its overall mission. Members of the board include:

The board of commissioners meets on the last Monday of every month. All board meetings are open to the public and the meeting agendas are posted at City Hall as well as the Galveston Housing Authority website.
